Before you start trading, you’ll need to transfer collateral onto your margin loan. The types of collateral you can provide are: accepted shares (equities), accepted managed funds, or cash. Here’s how to find the list of Accepted ASX Listed Equities and Accepted Managed Funds on our website:
Once you’ve transferred collateral onto your margin loan, you can utilise your updated lending value and place a trade online. Just log in to your CommSec account, go to Trading, select your Margin Loan Account (the account number will start with 7 or 8) and proceed with your order details.
For help with your margin loan, please call CommSec Margin Lending on 13 17 09 or +61 2 9115 1402 if calling from overseas (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, Sydney time).
You can transfer funds either online or over the phone. It will take up to two business days for your funds to clear, as long as we receive your request before 3pm Sydney time.
