How can I amend or cancel an order which is currently in the market?

To amend or cancel an order which is currently in the market, navigate to Trading > (Select your account) > Manage Orders (left hand side) > Outstanding Orders > Display or click here.

For open Australian equity orders in the market, the following can be amended:

Limit price

You can either increase or decrease the limit price of an order.

Please Note: Market prices cannot be amended online, and if you wish to amend a market order you will need to contact CommSec as per the details below.

Number of units

For any units which have not yet been executed, you can either increase or decrease the amount of units in the market.

Please Note: Any amendments to price or units will also result in those units being placed at the bottom of the queue for that price interval.

Example 1 – Amending number of units

If you have an order to purchase 400 units of XYZ and amend to 600 units, the existing 400 units will remain in the same position in the market, while the additional 200 units will go to the bottom of the queue within that price interval.

Example 2 –Amending limit price

If you have an order to purchase 400 units of XYZ at $2.65 and amend to $2.55, the entire order will be moved to the bottom of the queue for that price interval.

Expiry date

Once a trade has been placed, the expiry date can be amended for existing orders in the market. If your order expires before it is executed, you would need to replace the order.
